Year Groups

Each year group is divided into six form groups, which correspond to our six houses: Austen, Bronte, Curie, Darling, Earhart and Frank. Each week, form tutors and Heads of Year lead their year group in following the personal development curriculum which includes our pastoral programme, and a weekly assembly based on a thought for the week.

We encourage students to become involved with a range of different activities: Interhouse dance, the Year 8 pantomime, the annual school production and our highly inclusive Spots Day and Gym and Dance Show are just a few examples of the wealth of opportunities we offer students beyond the classroom. We also have an active Student Council and have trained senior mental health ambassadors and an active anti-bullying group.

In addition to supporting students’ pastoral needs, form tutors and Heads of Year monitor and support academic progress, which includes reviewing the regular progress reports with students and supporting students with preparation for internal and public assessments. each pupil will have two Academic Pastoral Meetings (APMs) with their Tutor each year and have access to Sixth Form mentors. Tutor groups are also supported by our Sixth Form prefect team.
