KS3
In Years 7 and 8 students have two hours of Geography a week and are taught in their tutor groups. In Year 9 students have three hours of Geography a fortnight and are taught in mixed ability teaching groups.
The Geography National Curriculum requires students to cover seven key concepts:
- Place
- Space
- Scale
- Interdependence
- Physical and human processes
- Environmental action and sustainable development
- Cultural understanding and diversity
The key concepts are covered throughout students’ study of Geography in KS3 by dividing Years 7, 8 and 9 into four sections, each with a conceptual theme which develops over the Key Stage as detailed in the table below:
