Distinctive Curriculum
A small group of students are selected in Year 7 for Distinctive Curriculum. These students will study 2 languages instead of 3 in order to participate in the Skills Builder programme which will be delivered during these lessons. Skills students will learn include organisation, safely accessing information online and building confidence to speak up in lessons. Students will also develop skills for learning to support achievement in the wider school curriculum. Students may continue with Distinctive Curriculum in Years 8, 9 and beyond or they may return to language lessons dependent on whichever is deemed most appropriate.
Distinctive Curriculum at KS4 is a suite of qualifications appropriate to the student to enable them to successfully access suitable courses beyond Year 11. This may include: continuing with the Skills Builder programme; Functional Skills in English, Maths, Science; BTEC Home Cooking. These subjects may be studied alongside GCSE English, Maths, Science and other GCSE subjects the student has opted for. The aim for all students is that they achieve the skills and qualifications that will prepare them for a programme of study beyond Year 11.
