THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH AND DRAMA SIXTH FORM
Subjects offered
The Department has a large sixth form with most members of staff contributing to teaching at Key Stage 5. To date courses are offered in English Literature, English Language and Literature, Theatre Studies and Media Studies.
The Department has high expectations of those students choosing to stay on in these subject areas and requires a minimum of 5 A* - C grades at GCSE.
Induction
Most courses will begin with a period of induction following the issue of a Programme of Study. During this time students can develop valuable skills, such as learning to read film or developing their essay writing skills and extending their reading. Students joining the Sixth form will have been issued with a suggested reading list prior to the commencement of the course.
Shared Area
With the VLE in mind the Department has stepped up its use of the shared area for Sixth Form study and has also invested in stocking subject areas in the library.
Study Habits
Students will be encouraged to use the shared area, internet and library for independent study and should expect to take a pro active approach to their learning.
