Exam Board
Students will be completing their GCSEs using the Edexcel Exam Board.
Curriculum
Year 10
Every pupil has one 1 hour lesson per week in a computer room. They are all studying a GCSE ICT Short course equivalent to a half a GCSE using the Edexcel syllabus.
The Short Course GCSE requires 60% coursework and 40% examination.
· Project 1 – Web Design
· Project 2 – Database Design
· End of year exam (1 hour)
· Theory to be taught includes hardware, software, system documentation
· Describe social, economic, legal, ethical and moral effects of using IT systems.
Feedback on sections of coursework will be given at which point they can improve the work before the deadline.
Year 11
They continue with the 1 hour per week.
During this year students will study the many aspects of ICT and the impact it has on our lives in preparation for examination. They will undertake a mock in November to give them an understanding of the types of questions that will be asked. In Term 4 they will be given the scenario set by the board for the final examination and this will be studied in detail.
