Comfort Food Cushions
Students will design and make a cushion for an imaginary coffee shop. They will work in teams to produce a range of cushions which will be in the shape of products sold in the coffee shop.
Students will learn what a specification is and why it is important when designing. They will learn to use this when evaluating their work. They will develop their drawing skills, and recognise the difference/importance of both first ideas sketches, and finished presentation drawings. They will learn to make a basic pattern to meet the requirements of their design.
Students will develop their skills when using the sewing machines, and will experience working with fabrics of different textures. They will learn that fibres and fabrics have different properties that make them suitable for different end uses.
