‘Bag an Artist’
Students will use fabric decoration techniques to design and make a decorated bag using the sewing machine. They learn how to use simple paper patterns and joining techniques for fabrics. They learn basic construction and characteristics of fabrics. They learn to select and use suitable equipment for the task and to use is safely. They learn how to create design drawings based on the work of famous artists.
Key Learning Outcomes
Generate ideas using labelled sketches and use information regarding users’ views and communicate these views and needs on their designs.
Think about the order of their work to enable them to select and use a range of tools and equipment with some accuracy.
Recognise where they have done well and suggest improvements.
Understand safety and use of general sewing equipment and the sewing machine.
Introduction into the use of paints, pens, dyes, crayons and equipment for use.
